Plants and Pollinators

Bees and other insects pollinate 90% of crops and wild flowers, helping to generate essential food for humans. Since 1900, the UK has lost 20 species of bee. Two British Bumblebees have gone extinct and 35 bee species are considered to be under threat of extinction. Across Europe nearly 1 in 10 wild bee species are under threat. The causes of bee decline include: loss of habitat, use of pesticides, spread of pests and diseases, and man-made climate change.

The plants and pollinators exhibition will celebrate the beautiful and fascinating natural world. There will also be information and merchandise supporting both the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Friends of the Earth’s BeeCause.

There is much we can do to reverse the damage being done. The exhibition is both a celebration and an invitation to get involved.
